Buzzing Bees-----

Cynthia Ruccia

Above is THEM!!!!

Below is ME----triumphant!!

Just call me Hannah Post!!!  Whassup? Well, here's the story. For having the unmitigated GALL to go after Virginia Sole-Smith for embedding herself into Mary Kay Inc in order to write a hit piece, she and her "group" decided to go after me like a swarm of angry bees!! Now I am about to turn 60, and this particular piece of the younger generation makes me feel a bit like an old fogey. I rarely think that things were better "in the good old days," but THIS little tete-a-tete...........

Democratic Women Losing Even More Clout

Cynthia Ruccia

My buddy J sent me this article from the Huffington Post about the fact that the Democrats will lose their only two female governors this year with a poor chance of replacing them. Governor Bev Perdue of North Carolina and Governor Christine Gregoire are stepping down, and the article mentions a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in New Hampshire who has only a small chance of winning her election in November. That means that we will have 4 female Republican governors and no Democratic governors. Where is the uproar about this state of affairs?

I have written about this before ("When Will Women Rise Up?"), and many many of us regularly speak about this sad state of affairs on lots of blogs, among ourselves, and even occasionally in the MSM. But it is worth having another go at it. We women finding ourselves hopelessly divided and unable to use our power in numbers to effect any kind of meaningful change for ourselves. We have become hopeless and frozen, stuck in an odd sort of time warp that causes us to either be silent or war against one another.

Want To Win Your Way Into The Boys Club? Dump on Women....

Cynthia Ruccia

I was getting worried that I would have writer's block forever!! It turns out that I just needed some time away to rest myself from the constant fight for women's parity. I just got tired of waging a seemingly endless war on the pathetic and inadequate status of women in the United States. But lo and behold, something has snapped me out of my lethargy. And while wanting to put this person who moved me so in her place, I probably need to thank her for royally pissing me off.

I'm speaking of one Virginia Sole-Smith, a writer for The Nation's writer's institute, who embodies one of the main reasons women's economic progess has so completely stalled. As you know, little has changed for women in the past 20---30 years here in America. Women make 77 cents on the man's dollar, we rank 78th in the world for female representation in government, 2.8% of Fortune 1000 companies are headed by women, we've never had a female president or vice president, read the rest of the stats in the right column. There are many many reasons for these problems which we've discussed almost ad nauseum on this blog. But the one I need to call out today is the one where women gore other women to get ahead because it is one way to break into the men 's club. Men love to watch women tear each other apart. And apparently they are willing to pay good money to see this sport!!
